We’ve read every thing from summer time programs at prestigious universities, to work that is gaining at their local mall, to climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro (literally). We admire students that pursue their passions.

Here is a short variety of summer time activities you could pursue:

  • Volunteer at a hospital, park, library, museum or aquarium
  • Become a Camp Counselor at a summer camp
  • Train to be a lifeguard at your pool that is local, or beach
  • Baby-sit your neighbor’s kid

Professional Development

Things have began to calm down around the working office now that all freshman decisions have now been made. We’re still focusing on reviewing transfer files, but our staff recently took a fast trip to Reno, NV to attend a expert meeting.

While here, we attended sessions about various admission subjects and best methods, such as exactly how to deliver a highly effective school that is high, what forms of technology might be useful in the recruitment procedure, and how to read college essays while paying attention of our personal biases (positive or negative). The meeting additionally gave us a chance in order to connect with our colleagues from various parts of the country, including many of your high school counselors. It in fact was a great possibility to share our own knowledge and expertise and learn from each other. Even the most admission that is seasoned on our staff learned one thing new at the seminar!

Summer is our chance to rest, review what we’ve learned over the past year, and prepare for the year that is coming. We hope you can perform the same through your summer break!

Summer in the City

It is officially summer in Southern Ca! Campus is a bit quieter, the conditions are becoming warmer, & most importantly, the speed in our office has slowed down. We are also advantage that is taking of downtime to explore l . a . and all that our town has to provide our pupils.

Like in past summers, we’re utilizing the summer time Restaurant Series, planned by some of our very own colleagues, to explore the local food. Just last month, we ventured to 23rd St. Café in USC’s garden. This restaurant that is unique United states, Indian, and Mexican food, in addition to some fusion dishes. The Chicken Tikka Masala quesadilla was quite popular in our group! For the food that is second, our restaurant series took us to Umamicatessen. According to the website, this location is ‘inspired by worldwide street bazaars plus the classic United states delicatessen’ and will be offering 5 different kitchens serving up diverse forms of food within a dining hall situated within the Orpheum Theatre. Some of our favorite dishes during this outing were the truffle fries, made-to-order donuts, and various forms of Umami’s specialty: burgers.

Besides consuming our way through some of LA’s notable restaurants, we are going to spend time during July and August attending social occasions and checking out historic spots around the town. Some tasks we’ll experience include a tour that is guided of Disney Concert Hall and Music Center, enjoying the Downtown LA Art Walk, and hopping in the newly opened Expo line to take the train to the Culver City Farmers Market.
